Niels graduated from the school of architecture in Arhus, Denmark and has been working in the field of sustainable design for the past 25 years.

He was the initiator of the eco-design network O2 international (1988) and has been active in developing new design schools and has produced numerous conferences like-mind over matter at the Louisiana Art museum in 1996. In 2000 and 2001 he produced the conferences “experience design” in Norway and Denmark in collaboration with the Danish design center, Copenhagen institute for future studies and grip the Norwegian environmental bureau.

Niels gives lectures and workshops worldwide. He also works as consultant in Europe as well as India with among others: actics – the first and only online tool in the world where companies, ngo’s and also individuals can describe their ethical visions, create actions to realize them and get feedback.
He is currently developing the micro macro monde center (mmm) – a center for radically rethinking design & the world – in Cormes, France.

He is also the CEO of experience design lab (exdl) – a “sustainable vision agency”, which runs all mmm activities, organizes sustainable vision do and workshops, and develops new sustainable innovative product and service concepts. Exdl is a Uk based company and has partners globally.
